Community Impact Welcomes a New Class of Student Leaders

August 20, 2015

The call to serve is answered with enthusiasm by more than 900 Community Impact (CI) student volunteers annually, who give their time and talents to the service of our neighbors in need in Harlem, Morningside Heights and Washington Heights. Among these amazing volunteers are a set of leaders who give extra energy to our causes - our Student Executives (Execs).  Each CI Student Exec plays a significant role in the oversight and implementation of the CI mission, working with CI staff, CU administrators, CI Board of Directors, and community partners to continually improve the organization and community service at Columbia.

We welcome the 2015-2016 Community Impact Student Execs:

Carlos Diaz, CC ’17

Jean-Franco Diaz, CC ’16

Miranda Kantor, CC ‘17

Tamsin Kantor, CC '18

Katrina Martell, CC ’16

Corwin McCammon, GS ’16

Michael Price, GS '16

We know the leadership skills developed as CI Student Execs will serve them well beyond their contributions here, by simply looking at the accomplishments of just two of our Student Exec alumni  - James Tanaka, CC '96, General Counsel for RCS Capital and Executive Vice President for American Realty Capital, and Vivek Rajeswaran, CC '07, an equity analyst at T. Rowe Price in Baltimore.  These CI Student Exec alumni are representative of the many who have gone on to accomplished careers in their chosen fields.

If you are a former Community Impact Student Exec, coordinator, and/or volunteer, we hope you'll get in touch and let us know what you are up to and how you can get involved with CI. Contact Sonia Reese at (212) 854-2617 or by email at
