There are three CI programs that provide food and shelter to local residents in need. Community Lunch, with 130 volunteers  this year, served lunch to 2900 people  at a local church. Forty five volunteer members of  Project for the Homeless supervised  2 homeless shelters for 8 months that gave a place to sleep to 45 residents. Twenty Habitat for Humanity volunteers partnered with local groups to restore houses damaged in Hurricane Sandy. A fourth program, Advocacy Coaltion advocates for residents in need of social services including housing, employment and health insurance and provides referrals to appropriate agencies. In addition, Community Impact operates a food pantry at Ford Hall on W114th St on Mondays and Thursdays.
