A Message from CI's Executive Director

A Message from CI's Executive Director

Community Impact had an incredibly busy and productive few months, polar vortex notwithstanding. Our programs flourished and we welcomed a new program, Best Buddies, that will pair our student volunteers with intellectually and developmentally disabled adults.

We are also happy to welcome three new Board members and congratulate two remarkable women – Rose Kob, CC '96 and Maria Davila-Peguero, both longstanding Board members – who will serve as co-Chairs of the Board beginning in this summer.  This spring we hosted our first downtown foray.  Nearly 200 alumni and friends attended CI Connect 2 at the Standard Hotel, a beautiful space in the chic Meatpacking District.  Many of you told us how wonderful it was to reconnect with old friends and meet new CI folks.  We expect to have more alumni gatherings in the future.

We have great news about our endowment campaign:  to date we have raised nearly 60% of our $5 million goal!  We are enormously gratified by the response thus far to our campaign.  But, if you are counting (and believe me, we are) this means that we still need to raise more than $2M.  We are working hard on this and welcome your participation as we move forward.

We are talking about more effectively using social media and electronic communications, including an e-version of our newsletter.   We welcome your views on our nascent digital presence.  I want to offer a special ‘thank you’ to those of you who have commented on the new website.  Keep that advice coming!

Finally, please watch for news of our 2015 Fall Gala.  We expect to send out a ‘save the date’ soon.  As always, we are so grateful for your generosity.  Our work to support our neighbors is simply not possible without you.  As we prepare for another wonderful year at CI, we wish you a wonderful summer.
